Rooms: 121 Opening in 2025



Citybox has recently signed a long-term lease agreement with property developer Aton for 123 rooms in the center of Stavanger. This new hotel will be our first establishment in Stavanger. It is planned to open in 2025 at Klubbgata 3.



“We are very grateful to Kjell and Tommy Madland at Aton for giving us this opportunity, and we look forward to a good long-term collaboration,” says Chairman of Citybox, Martin Smith-Sivertsen.



“Klubbgata is the ideal location for a Citybox-hotel in Stavanger. It is located in the city center, right by the charming wooden house area, and only 100 meters from Norway’s finest cathedral. The location is perfect for transportation, whether guests arrive by train, bus, boat, or car. Stavanger is an incredibly dynamic and charming city, and we have wanted to establish ourselves here for a long time. If everything goes according to plan, we will open in time to participate in the magnificent 900th anniversary of the city and the cathedral,” continues Martin.



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">The 11th signing</h3>



This signing in Stavanger marks Citybox’s eleventh signing, and the hotel chain will more than double the number of rooms. Citybox has several other hotels in the pipeline, including Citybox Helsinki, Citybox Stockholm, and Citybox Brussels, which will open in 2024. Furthermore, Citybox Kristiansand and Citybox Tromsø are also in the pipeline.



The hotel chain had an impressive year in 2022. The hotels generated an “all-time high” revenue of 269 million, almost 50 million above budget. Citybox Oslo and Citybox Bergen also had the highest occupancy rates in their respective cities, with 88.8% and 77.6%, 28% and 20% higher than city averages.



Tommy Madland, project manager at Aton, expressed his satisfaction with the collaboration agreement. He praised Citybox’s impressive growth and steady results. Aton is now in the process of converting the interior of the hotel mass, and the building is expected to be ready in 2025. Madland is confident that the excellent location of the property will make this a successful collaboration for both parties.

Together with Qvartal 1(Oksøy Eiendom AS and Gumpen Eiendom AS), Citybox is opening a brand new hotel in the center of Kristiansand. The hotel is set to open in 2025 with 165 rooms. Citybox will temporarily take over the operation of the former Yess! -Hotel, under the name Citybox Lite until the last construction phase in 2024. Citybox Lite opens its doors to guests on 1 June 2021.

Tromsø

Despite hard times, Citybox continues the chains planned expansions and signs an agreement with Eiendomsspar for 346 rooms in central Tromsø. When opened, the hotel will be the largest in Northern Norway.&nbsp;



– We are confident that Citybox and the exciting city of Tromsø will be a good match, where we can offer affordable hotel rooms to the market without compromising on quality, says chairman of Citybox, Martin Smith-Sivertsen.



The planned hotel will be part of a larger development of the former Mack-property. It will consist a market street with restaurants, offices, a school, and a possible Arctic concert hall. The plan proposal will soon be up for consideration in the municipality.



Citybox has, for a long time, wanted to establish a hotel in Tromsø. With a modern concept and a low price level, they, together with Eiendomsspar, want to make Tromsø more accessible for travelers looking for affordable accommodation.



– As a developer, we think long-term, and we are not going to let a pandemic shake our assessment of Tromsø as a tourist destination of the future. Tourism will be an even more important industry for the city once the world can reopen. We are glad to have partnered up with Citybox who runs a modern and future-oriented concept. Soon, the city’s tourism industry can offer guests good quality accommodation at a lower price. At Citybox you won’t find an old-fashioned reception or minibar. Guests check-in and out via terminals, and in this way, they save both time and money while traveling.

2020 was challenging for the hospitality industry. With substantial travel restrictions still in place, Citybox is not expecting the start of this year to be easy. Still, they are going forward with the chain’s planned expansion.



– Corona has been difficult for everyone in the tourism industry. Now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We strongly believe that the tourism industry, especially in Tromsø, will make a strong recovery after the pandemic, says Hjulstad.
